Ideas go viral on Facebook
There’s this crazily viral fad spreading around Facebook this week called Doppelganger week. The idea is for this week, you change your profile picture to a photo of a celebrity you’ve been told you look like. And if you don’t have a celebrity in mind, you can use Facebooks “Face Double” application, which uses the features of your face from a photo you upload to find...

WatchWatch
A new spot for Budweiser that uses a re-make of a Beatles song. I find it fun to watch, and even though it really has nothing to do with Budweiser or beer in any way shape or form, it makes me think just a little bit higher of budweiser. Mayybe, just maybe, Budweiser is cool? Nah, but their advertising agency kicks ass! Props to you DDB London.

"DEWmocracy"
I found this ad to be interesting and effective. What jumped out at me first was how similar it is to those lengthy commercials for video games. It talks about a main character and a quest he must go on, which is basically the story line behind any video game. Even though I don’t personally enjoy most video games, this particilar ad grabbed my interest and forced me to continue...

Craigslist Nanny Found Dead in Car Trunk
Katherine Olson was last seen by friends when she went to meet someone about a nanny job posted on Craigslist.org. A day later, her body was found in her car at a Minnesota nature preserve. Authorities say a 19-year-old man who they believe placed the fake ad is being held pending charges. Olson’s family said she had taken nanny jobs at least twice before after answering online ads.Whats...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0q_3bLuJcLs In this scene, Jeffries is sitting in a chair observing everything that is going on outsife of this apartment window. In between dosing off and glancing at his watch, he notices the couple who sleeps on the porch move inside due to rain. He also observes a mysterious car a few times. What really interests him is this man with briefcase going in and out of...

Deviant Art: markmarkmark reaches 3000 pageviews
Far beyond amateur photographer Mark Jaworski displays some amazing pieces of art of his webpage on deviantart.com, which is a medium I was never aware of, nor would I have been if a friend hadn’t led me directly to it. Visit his site to keep the numbers growing! This is important to media literacy because it’s good to be aware of a website such as deviantart.com because there is so...

Spiegelman visits Marist
Art Spiegelman, comic artist and author of the comic series “Maus” came to Marist for a lecture and q&a session. When the Twin Towers fell, something rose from the Pulitzer prize-winning author. The outcome was The Shadow of No Towers, a graphic novel that traces the author’s frightening day on Sept. 11, 2001. ”Disaster is my muse,” says Spiegelman, who won the...

The Fruits of WristStrong: Colbert Cast Sells For...
Steven Colbert injured his wrist June 27 in a fall while running around his New York studio before tapping an episode. Since publicly revealing the injury on the July 26 episode, he has created a red “WristStrong” bracelet, which parodies the yellow “LiveStrong” bands. ridiculous?
this quote actually exists on a poster that is for sale online. It actually fits right along with my picture below which is from the show The Swan, where “ugly” women are made “better” through various painful medical procedures….because everyone wants to be beautiful, don’t they?

This character below could one day be me. If I ever get bored with life, I might just go about creating a character in Second Life that is the total opposite of the real me, such as the character in the picture below, and I could create a new “fake” life for myself through my computer. I find it just incredible that I was never aware of any of this before last week.

Media Seen/Unseen
Although there are endless amounts of issues and events that are a part of our time, I find it to be incredibly true that the defining issue of our time is the media. In our world today, we are simply overloaded with different forms of media. I suppose it’s a good thing that we so much available to us practically at our fingertips. However, we can probably all agree that with so many different...
